La Infinidad del Ser | The infinity of being | Solo Show Judith Sturm
The HMH gallery in Port Andratx is showing new works by the German painter Judith Sturm entitled „La Infinidad del Ser"
The artist Judith Sturm succeeds with her unique painting technique combined with impressive, metaphorical imagery and peculiarly surreal beach scenes a creative unique position.
She is concerned with the infinite variations and also interpretations of positions and emotions of her protagonists. What do they do? What are they thinking? Do they embody longing or boredom - are they carefree or attentive?
In her new series of works, "The Infinity of Being“, one, or at most two, people are seen as if zoomed in on unlocatable seascapes or urban pool scenes. This cropping creates a focus on the bodies of the protagonists and an almost voyeuristic insight.
Quiet restlessness is created by the restless skin structure worked out of the painting background and the white "thought bubbles" billowing around, while the depicted women and the two-dimensional painted backgrounds radiate perfect tranquility.
Judith Sturm is masterstudent and graduate of German „Documena 6“ artist Bodo Baumgarten at Saarbrücken Academy of Arts. She has won several art prizes and artist grants and is represented in public and private collections worldwide.
