Barbara Steinmann – An artist whose pictures look photorealistic, but not to the last instance. Wanted or unwanted?
It is important for the artist to be able to guess the brush stroke. So it's wanted!
It is also striking that she mainly takes sections of photographs, which she then paints oversized.
Her statement: We also perceive the missing, the unpainted, so we see more than the canvas reveals.
She often coats her large-format oil paintings with Diamond Dust, which gives the pictures their own, unmistakable presence. This gives them even more glamor than the painted icons already have.
Education
1989: Studied as a designer
1989-2008: Freelance artist in the fields of portrait and landscape painting, as well as oil painting and wall painting in private and public wellness areas
2008-2015: Founding of the Steinmann GmbH manufactory for handmade and painted tiles
